The Making of a PICARD handbag

HANDMADE WITH LOVE

Before our darlings make their way out into the world and a colourful life, they are crafted at our own workshops in the finest bag making tradition. It is a craft that has become very rare in Germany, and one
that PICARD has cultivated over generations. We continuously offer apprenticeships in fine bag making to pass on and further develop that knowledge.

Every piece of leather, every zip and every thread passes through our trained staff’s loving hands. So each and every one of the up to 80 individual parts and around 110 different work stages contains all our knowledge, experience and passion. That also includes our targeted search for old machines that were once used in bag manufacture. We restore them using the very latest technology and integrate them in our production. A bit crazy? Crazy about loving attention to detail! Old sewing machines create a special, highly expressive and individual stitch pattern that no computer-aided competitor can match. The result? Quality you can see, smell, feel and experience.
